Removing inserts

I was at bow shop and saw them using solder iron to remove inserts ..
They sell this tool also..
So took my arrow to lowes to see if I could get screw with threads like field point...
I found screw I think it was like 32number on pack and about inch and half long..
Cut head off screw and took solder point out of my iron and put screw in ...
Let it heat up fir 5 minutes and screwed arrow in ...
Worked ok got insert out ....
Arrow was not real hot ....
