Axe 340 and accessories taken down and stored in a Plano Double Rifle Case

For those of you wanting to know how the Axe 340's rail and riser is fastened together.

Cylindrical Rod & Bolt/Screw used to fasten Axe 340's rail and riser together

Thanks for the insight. For some reason I am seriously tempted get the Kryptek version. I had the raid and sold it. Really a great looking bow. I’m wrestling with the decision since I already have a juiced up 335 in the arsenal.....
Micro 335 / Hawke XB30 Pro- Excal Sound Deadening System....
Matrix 350 SE / Hawke XB30 Compact - Couldn't say no......
308 Shorty / Hawke XB30 Pro- Tack driver ....

Yes I think it matches nicely with the black quiver, hand grips, and all the other black accessories.

Here's a picture of my Micro AXE 340 kit assembled before I had installed the scope, cheek piece and Ex-Shox

Very cool design. I wonder if my Micro. 335 black stock would mate up with the AXE main frame!

Hey Lou

Is the riser in 3 separate pieces?

I don't see why it wouldn't. You could even swap limbs, that way you'd have an unique all black AXE 340 with matching black quiver. :eusa-dance:

No the riser is a single "block" of aluminum, just like all the other Excalibur risers. The difference is the shape and size and that it connects with a single bolt through the front, instead of the bottom.

The hole in the centre is where the screw/bolt is inserted

The other two pieces you see in the pic below are separate. The cylindrical rod goes through the hole in the rail, while the screw/bolt goes through the front of the riser and is screwed into the drilled and tapped cylindrical rod. A black "gasket" (seen in the above pic) is glued to the riser and is sandwiched between the it and rail.

The AXE might not be as easy to take down as the TD models, but it can be disassembled and reassembled in mere seconds. I did so to take the above pics. When I reassembled it the POI was unchanged. I think Excalibur created a real winner with the AXE.

Jeff it's calling your name, so stop agonizing over the decision. Take it from someone who's been around the block a for quite a "few" years. We only live once. So enjoy yourself, it's later than you think.

I used to think that way. I added up all the $ I spent on bows. It was about the same as a fully guided Africa hunt... lol

There will always be the latest and greatest to tempt me! :)

It's all about perspective. For me it's about owning "stuff", I've also been guilty of owning more crossbows than needed. Thirteen Excaliburs and one top of the line TenPoint. The fact is that owning them has given me more joy than any trip ever could. The way I see it, once the trip is over the joy is gone, but with owning an object the feeling is longer lasting. I can wrap my hands around it and admire it whenever the urge strikes me. :D

The way I see it, I would much rather take that special hunting trip with fond hunting memories and friendships made over owning stuff..Siting in your comfy home fondling your stuff isn't as exciting as a real unique hunt.

One good crossbow can take you around the world. Owning a dozen or more may not leave enough cash left over at the end of the day for the working man to take that special trip.

Owning stuff , or too much stuff seems selfish when owning less and enjoying more time afield can be more rewarding when you play your cards right.
