My Verdict To Date On The AXE 340

Post by ComfyBear »

If anyone is considering buying an Excalibur crossbow, I would "highly" recommend the Micro AXE 340 Kryptec, with all the "bells & whistles".
The SDS + Air Brakes do their job

Until I bought the AXE I didn't realize how "loud" my other Excaliburs are. :o
Last night I was shooting my AXE for a bit, then I decided to take a few shots with my Matrix 350 LE which is equipped with the Dr. Stirrup dB Killers Limb Silencers and Stoppers. The difference was like night and day. The Matrix had a high pitch twangy sound, while with the AXE, the only sound I noticed was the arrow hitting the target.

I wasn't the only one to notice the difference. My wife happened to be in the basement while I was shooting. The first shot I took with the Matrix startled her, and she commented how much louder it was in comparison to the AXE 340.

IMO, the AXE is a real winner on many counts, it's a premium crossbow at a entry level price.

It fits nicely in my Plano Double Gun Case.

I certainly appreciate owning the AXE more with each and every passing day, and I'm sure others would agree.

Me too.
Especially the fact that it only takes a few seconds to disassemble and then the same to reassemble and know that the POI hasn't changed.

I really think they hit a home run with this one for the money and new riser design.

Congrats.. ..welcome to the club. Something tells me that its members will grow and you have the distinction of being one of the early ones
So who's going to be the next proud owner of the Axe 340. Will it be Jeff, or is someone else going to beat him to it once again.

Without a proper scale to weigh them, I'd have to guess that they are close in weight. However, it's not about weight, but rather "perceived weight" and balance. On that count the Axe, (even with the SDS & Air Brakes) feels lighter and more balanced, since it measures 31.75" in length and limbs at 25", compared to the Matrix 350 at 34.25" in length and limbs at 31.5".
Interestingly, the Axe is only 1/4" longer than the Matrix is wide.

I have found the same thing I got the other model the twang is not noticeable with it . I am using the stock scope and can't believe how accurate the Axe 340 is wow . I think it is their best product yet .

Initially I was thinking of upgrading the scope. However, since I have another Dead Zone on my Matrix 350 that I am very happy with it, I decided to use the Dead Zone scope on my Axe as well. Like you say, the accuracy and consistency of the Axe is phenomenal.
