YAY OR NAY ON AIRBRAKES FOR THE A420TD

Post by amythntr »

....What say you regarding the installation of airbrakes on the A420TD....

....i know it will at some added weight to the "bow" of said A420TD....however I do have them on the A360 and because the CB is "stern" heavy it shoulders well with no additional weight felt!

I took the disapater bars off my Equinox and never looked back they were quit heavy I think the new bars are a bit lighter, I would try it both ways and see what you think in the end I bet its a nay.

Anthony, do you have to change out hardware to not use them? Shorter bolts, etc. If so, the weight is not an issue on the Axe, and I kept them on. I don't think the Axe is much quieter than my Micro 355 with dbKillers, and limb silencers for Gaston.

Yay for me!

....Dan, you are probably right...I think I will wait until I receive my dbKillers and limb silencers from Gaston...I will add them to the bow and then make my decision....the A360 comes with them in addition with all of the silencers...

Anthony, did you put all of Gaston’s goodies on your A 360 as well, or did you stay with the stock components?

Good decision, the DrS dB Killers are superior to the REDS, but I give the nod to the Excalibur Limb Silencers over the DrS.

I tried my BD400 with and without the airbrakes or dissipate bars, whatever they're called and honestly could hear any difference. My bow has the new limbs so getting closer to a 420, at least they are a lot hotter than the originals. I weighed them and they're close to half a pound so that's significant up front. I went to a 440 grain arrow and that silenced the bow way more than the airbrakes, probably quiet it down even more when I go to Flemish string.
You do need different bolts if you want to change over and I got mine from Dan Miller.

I would say they're not worth it, but I don't worry about the noise at all and the speed loss from heavy arrows is not important to me.

I think that the big excalibur silicone limb silencers work better than the disipator bars and better than dr stirrup. . I have have had all of them. I took the bars off of all of em and dont miss them even a little.

I only added the dbKillers to my 420TD and really do not notice any difference between my Matrix 380. There is nothing jumping the string with this beast. Two mature does under my stand yesterday morning. Shot one she ran 30 yds and crashed. The other one 10 yds from my stand never looked up when she heard the noise. Although I have shot deer with the rifle and the same thing happened.

Same here, that is my plan for my Micro 360 TD Pro. Replace the REDS with the dBKillers but keep the Excalibur R.A.V.S. (limb silencers) and air brakes on it. The Ex-Shox were already installed by the dealer, probably keep those on until they fall of. The string stars are just going to stay on the factory string, but the string is being replaced with a VM 32-strand Force10 after I do a chrono test with my new Zombies for it.

You guys don't heard the difference because you're all I bit deaf!   Don't forget that there isn't a whole lot of spring chickens on this forum!
I took mine off of my 360TD because I knew I wouldn't hear the difference. Gaston's DB Killers do work at practically zero cost of speed and they last forever. Just keep them in contact or a hair away.
