My new Assassin 360 wont shoot lumenoks

Post by Buckjunkey »

I’m a new Excalibur Assassin 360 owner, and I can’t seem to get it to shoot bolts with lumenoks installed. It shoots bolts with regular flat nocks perfectly, but bolts with lumenoks just cork screw into the ground. I spoke with Peter at Excalibur, and he believed I was probably not seating the nock against the string. I verified that I am in fact getting the nick to the string, but got the same result. Anyone else seeing this? If so, what’s the remedy? Thanks.

Your using different arrows obviously, and my bet is that the rear of the arrow is not square.

Scuff up the back of nock. Must be very slick to not hit correctly on them. There is no reason they should not work properly. Take a close look slowly to see if'en anything is out of place. Maybe a vane not set under scope mount right n so on

.... my A360 shoots them perfectly as does all the other Excalibur’s I have owner! It is definitely NOT the lumenoks that are causing your issues!

I bought the Quill 16.5 inch bolts with lumenoks installed. The field points are 100 grains.

I think your FOC is not close to being optimal and magnifying any other imperfections like a slight tiller difference. Try 150 grain points.

This morning I tried a 20 inch black eagle executioner. It shot perfect with a flat plastic nock. I shot the same bolt with a lumenok and it didn’t go 15 yards before hitting the ground.

If the arrow is stopping short, you probably have pulled your Lumenok out too far. You want to back them out enough to turn off the light and that's it. You can test this by tapping the arrow, nock down, until the light comes on, then shoot it.
I assume your fletchings aren't getting damaged or getting a dark mark as if the string is riding over the arrow?

One set shoot fine, other set does not, square up the tail end. Where did you get these bolts, who cut them, and installed the rear's? Can you post pics? Where are you from? I purchased some arrows a few years back, and had two out of 12 that did the same thing you're talking about, squared them up, and BINGO. Boo is right about the front weight being too low as well. Need more information to drill down to the root issue. :eusa-popcorn:

I bought the Excalibur quill bolts with lumenoks at Gander. Had two sets (6 total), and none of them shot remotely close to okay. All of them cork screw into the ground. I just did a comparison with one of the quill bolts that came with it (don’t have lumenoks and all shoot perfectly), and what I now believe is the problem, is the diameter of the lumenoks are in fact preventing contact with the string when cocked.
There is a small opening that the nock end goes through to contact the string, and the lumenoks can’t get through it.
Is there a way to modify lumenoks without rendering them useless?
Thanks for all of the replies.

If they are Excalibur Quills with lumenocks they should fit. They are all the same diameter. Post a picture of the bolts next to each other. We'll get you figured out.
