Very true. He said that's how his office interprets it. He said he is trying to learn the new rules on both ends because he is a hunter as well. Said it is learn as they go. :wtf:

Here in GA we have a system on our phones called Outdoors GA. Our licenses show up on it and our deer and turkey kills have to be registered on it. You can use it even without a cellphone signal and enter the info and once you hit a signal it will be transmitted. A processor will not accept your animal unless you have a confirmation number that is supplied on your phone. You can still use a paper deer record as we used to but you have to find a phone and register it over the phone to get a confirmation number from the DNR. I love it as I register my deer before I bother to pull my knife out. Last one took me maybe a minute and a half to do even though I had no signal.

I already carry a biker style wallet with the chain going from the wallet to the loop that snaps around your belt. For hunting I remove the chain and metal clips and replace with a length of paracord and plastic clips. Its quiet and it's saved me from a lost wallet a couple times.

I carry my wallet with me in my gear bag. My truck keys are a different story. I leave them hid close by. If something happens to my bag, at least I can make it home.

Go to white water canoeing/tripping section of an outdoors store. Here in Canada MEC is a good one. Pick up a small dry bag for 10-20$. I toss my keys, phone, wallet etc in there and stow it in my pack. Can also keep a dry pair of extra gloves in it. Waterproof even if your pack is submerged.

In Ontario right now with the new Tag/Seal process combined with the 2X fines. I'd think carrying everything would be prudent. This might be an interesting season for tags and fines
Have to have you paper game seals with you all the time. Cards and licences can be on your phone. But if you tag a deer you have to remain with deer in the immediate area that someone can yell to you to come back. You can not tag a deer and get others to haul it out and you go back hunting. Person who tags it must remain with animal at all times. Game Warden says a little leeway in case the person who tags it has to walk off to pee. Any other situation there will be charges and you lose the animal. Beer and moose the same thing.
I beg to differ:
This is what is printed on the back of my Ontario deer licence/tag.

Tagging Instructions:
1. Notch the tag with the day, month, and time immediately after the kill, at the site of the kill and before moving the animal. Keep the tag with the animal until it has been transported to the site of processing and is being processed for long-term storage.
2. You may attach the tag to the animal at any time; however you MUST attach the tag if you are not immediately available to produce the tag for inspection. The tag must be securely attached to either the antler or the ear.
3. Keep the head of the animal with the carcass until it has been transported to the site of the site of processing and is being processed for long-term storage.

According to those instructions, the tag does not have to be attached (only notched) if the hunter is present with the animal. If he is not immediately present, then the tag MUST be attached, and then the hunter can/may go elsewhere if he so desires.
