Put a little more pressure on cranking while pushing the release button. Mine does the same thing sometimes, thought it was jammed up. Somebody told me to do that, and it will release

If it won’t release when it is fully cranked I found if you push the crank handle forward a little you can then hit the button to release it. I hope that makes sense I had mine lock up and wasn’t able to get it released I searched the internet for help and ended up finding one of Excalibur’s instructional videos on the crank and after I watched the video was able to get it working hope this helps.

It doesn’t take much to release it when you press the handle forward.

Are the hooks on the holding pins? If so, pop them off first then try to release, or crank a bit more with your thumb on the release toggle. If that doesn't work, get a picture to someone here to post, and we'll get you fixed up.
