Darkening Limbs

Post by ko4nrbs »

The limbs on my Exomax don't blend in real well with the all black interior of my Ground Blind. I wear all black hunting clothes in the blind so been thinking the Exomax should to. Don't want to do anything permanent like paint, etc. Is there a fabric tape or ?? that can be easily removed when need be? Don't want to have to scrub off a bunch of adhesive either.

This may sound a little weird but maybe legs from a pair of LADIES stockings or something like that. I would think what ever you use should be very light and loose. So as not to disturb the point of impact.
The bow would then become quite a conversation piece lololololol. A fellow wouldn’t want to put a run is his hosiery
Maybe the sleeves of a black shirt or turtleneck could loosely fit over the limbs as well.

You want vinal wireing harness tape with out adhesive.
Just wrap the limbs tight with it and use a small piece of electrical tape at the end.the vinal is streachy and flexabel it should work fine.
I made proto type car wireing harnesses for a spell and this tape was used and should be perfect for what you want to do.

How about using a Black High Lighter then wipe of with an alcohol pad?

Plasti-dip, peels right off.

Do not apply or cover the limbs with anything your wouldn't want to get hit in the face with!

I d use sports wrap tape .

I got some all blk medical wrap tape , it stretches and sticks to itself.

I'm sure that would be worth trying. It comes in different widths and colors. Tape ends to secure.

I use it on ankle to secure guase for an injury.

I've painted several limbs black and it was quite durable.
First I wipe the surface to be painted with acetone. Then I went at the surface with a red 3M pad. Then acetone again. Then a flush coat of self etching primer. Then black Plasticote spray paint. After a couple of years use I was astonished and just how durable it was.

I have camo limbs on my bows, I can only hunt from blinds now and I wear all black too. The camo limbs have never busted me in the blind by any deer! I don’t have my bow near the windows either, it’s set back in the blind on a Caldwell Deadshot Fieldpod. The deer will only see movement and not the camo. Good luck!

I've never been busted either so I guess I'm making too much of it. Thanks everyone.

Here is a link to the harness tape i was referring to tape is misleading as there is no adhesive on this but it is very stretchy and flexible more so than regular electrical tape with adhesive most people are familiar with.
In all temperatures it will form perfectly to the limb shape, it will not mark the limb in any way, it will not fly off or unravel, is clings to its self with out adhesive when stretched a slight amount, it can be removed at will with no marking to the limbs.
When putting it on just over lap it on its self by 50 % and it will look decent start at the limb tip end at the riser and finish with a wrap and a half of regular electrical tape.
This is a no brainier if you have used this stuff like i have If you want to resell your bow at some point just unwrap it and go for it no need to try and sell a home paint job to some one.

Like Boo said, paint them. Very little weight added to them, and if you're only going to hunt from a blind going forward, you want something that will be there next year too. JMHO.
