If the eyes are closed beware! When I approach a downed deer I stay back a few yards and check it’s eyes, and watch the chest for any breathing. They can mess you up pretty badly with nothing to lose.
Good advice Dan
I learned the same thing many years ago......

Ladies and gentlemen the photo was sent to me via text, group text. It looks to have happened last November from what was written below the photos. Every since the forum upgrade many months ago I cannot login using my iPhone? I asked Don if he could share this on the forum so it would not happen to anyone we may know. Just now I'm able to login using my tablet. Cloudy eyes and a swift kick from the backside avoiding antlers and hooves. I'm not sure I'd be posing either, be safe folks.

WoW!!!

I wonder how the damage was done? Hooves slashing? Antler ripping? Odd that there is no sign of hunter blood on the deer antlers or fur.

Perhaps a howitzer might be needed? :wtf:  A third shot perhaps!! :eusa-think: I'd hate to have to wear a football helmet from now on to check my "dead" deer!!! Any one got a "Cowboys" helmet for sale?????? :eh:
Holy Moly!! That's gonna leave a mark!! OUCH!!!!

Sure hope you heal up fast!

Yup I'm thinking that left a mark, the individual in the photos in this thread is not of me. Unknown hunter someone knows him but I do not.

The guy in Arkansas (Yellville) shot the deer with a MLer. The deer gored him with his antlers, the man called either 911 or home. When they got to him, he was dead.
