Wind Detector
Some of you may already do this but thought I would post for those who don't.
Don't spend big bucks on Wind Detector powder. Use good old baking powder and a nose spray bottle.
Works great everyone and is super cheap. The spray bottle has never plugged up on me. You do have to tap it some when the powder settles.

Re: Wind Detector
My favorite is the seeds and fluff from milkweed pods ..They are free and you can see the wind currents from your stand out quite a distance

I've been using the milkweed also since I saw them using it on THP. I feel like Johnny Appleseed spreading milkweed where ever I go lol plus as said its free !
Re: Wind Detector
I like Milk weed . like said it is free and you can watch the wind swirl and sent free. one pod will last a long time.

I use the milkweed pods also. I pull the little seeds off them so I am not spreading that stuff around my hunting area though.

Re: Wind Detector
Any more I leave the seeds on, for food for the Monarch Butterflies ! It is now very easy to get rid of in a bean or corn field...So help out the Monarchs
Re: Wind Detector
I do the same for the Monarch.

Re: Wind Detector
I planted an area of milkweed behind my house for the monarchs.I sometimes had 100s of butterflies roosted in the mape trees behind my house. I harvest the fluff this time of year as most of the butterflies have moved on and then I use it for wind detection.
Re: Wind Detector
Hmmm. I did not realize that they used them.

Re: Wind Detector
What does a monarch butterfly need to survive?
Monarchs cannot survive without milkweed; their caterpillars only eat milkweed plants (Asclepias spp.), and monarch butterflies need milkweed to lay their eggs
