Wind Detector

Post by ko4nrbs »

Some of you may already do this but thought I would post for those who don't.

Don't spend big bucks on Wind Detector powder. Use good old baking powder and a nose spray bottle.

Works great everyone and is super cheap. The spray bottle has never plugged up on me. You do have to tap it some when the powder settles.

My favorite is the seeds and fluff from milkweed pods ..They are free and you can see the wind currents from your stand out quite a distance

I use the milkweed pods also. I pull the little seeds off them so I am not spreading that stuff around my hunting area though.

I planted an area of milkweed behind my house for the monarchs.I sometimes had 100s of butterflies roosted in the mape trees behind my house. I harvest the fluff this time of year as most of the butterflies have moved on and then I use it for wind detection.

What does a monarch butterfly need to survive?
Monarchs cannot survive without milkweed; their caterpillars only eat milkweed plants (Asclepias spp.), and monarch butterflies need milkweed to lay their eggs
