True Story

Post by papa bear1 »

My wife put her show mare out in the front pasture yesterday, and before long
a doe came running and jumped the fence not 20 yds. in front of the mare
and lo and behold here comes mister buck hot on her heels,
the mare took off like a cheeta after the buck, and chased him plum outta the pasture,
then I could not believe my eyes, the doe came running over and stood buy the mare about 30 yds. away
the mare looked at her and went back to eating like nothing had happened,
WEIRD things happen I guess :?

Dave :)

Very cool to see.
Jeff ( carnivores) and I were gutting a doe at 10:00 am and a nice 8 point walked up broadside at 10 y drooling at the mouth in full rut. I barked at him and blew him kisses and he would not move.

We leaned a lesson yesterday

Sounds like she was tired of being dogged and used the mare for protection smart doe .

I saw a buck chasing a doe down the road this am should be good next week when I head to Michigan for the end of their bow season I hope.

I've seen that too. The doe in my profile pic had the 8pt behind it. As I was climbing out of my stand I was videoing two other bucks that wouldn't leave her carcass. I actually had to run them off! I was in bow range (gun season) of them before either of them would leave. When they're hot, the bucks get stupid.

Cool story. It would have been neat to see one running off a buck.

Humans do the same thing. I was at a bar one time and this big guy wouldn't take the hint that his advances on a young woman were unwelcome, so she went and stood next to a 300 lb. woman in bike leathers and forearms like a stevedore. They didn't even know each other, but the guy just sort of disappeared after that. Next time I saw him, his head was stuffed and mounted and hanging on the wall of the very same bar. Not the best taxidermy job I'd ever seen—somehow they made him look smarter than he was in real life. It's an X chromosome thing, apparently.

It's just amazing to see some of the things we do while outdoors, I know that was a sight to see and sit back and laugh when it was all over.
