We doubled up today, kid shot an 8 point at first legal light, I had a big doe come in but could not get a shot on her. About an hour later the kid texts me that he is going to dress his buck. I tie off my pack, lower it from the ladder stand and I cracked open my .44 single shot rifle, removed bullet and put the scope caps on. I’m tying my drop line now, and the kid is coming up behind me at about 100 yards. Two does come in about 30 yards out and I begin to scramble with removing scope caps, pulling a bullet out of my sleeve on the stock, cracking the gun open to load a bullet, and cock the hammer back. They finally spook and dart off to about 60 yards. One stops to look back, and pow! I shot her, she buckled a little then bolted about 80 yards and piled up. Live weight about 90 pounds, she will be tasty. First time we doubled up! I had to do it! Pics. later, I’m beat down pretty good right now, but so happy to have been able to get out, and score!

Thanks guys, I’m so wore out from the weekend, but feel good at the same time. We had a long drive out to this farm, about two hours. Getting up before 3am is hard the second day let me tell you.

Steelers have been my team since I was a young kid, and of course da bears! I grew up in Chicago, Sox fan too!
