Last week I had the guy in the first pic show up, stop at 50 yards offering me a quartering towards me shot. His eyes were locked on my Rinehart doe decoy. He lifted his nose high up and then swapped ends and ran back into the woods. If he offered me a good broadside shot, I might have taken it but I am waiting for the nocturnal bigger buck in the second picture. He still shows up but the pics are not as good. Life is pretty good when you have something to look forward to! This week is muzzleloading season and I'll be using my Savage.

Good luck Don, that nighttime buck is a stud for sure.

Let the Savage do it's thing out to 200 plus yards!

A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

I am trying my best. I let 2 young bucks pass so far but if that first one offers me a perfect broadside

. I've been waiting and watching that gagger for a while now. He's a busy boy visiting the bait site often, sometimes a few times in a couple of hours. Frankly, I'm surprised at my patience. During shotgun season, I used my 360 TD the whole 2 weeks.

The way I see it every deer is a trophy. The smaller buck would represent a fine success and we would all welcome he chance to congratulate you on taking him. It's seldom easy and you deserve to be rewarded for your time and effort.

Good luck on both bucks! That second one is really nice. You have more patience than I. I might let the small one walk once, but not twice.

Who am I kidding? I doubt I'd be able to let him walk the first time.

Don, both are good deer. That Rinehart doe decoy is the best thing I've added to my hunting approach for sure, shoot straight.
