Smokers ?
After the post on the smoker it got me thinking.
I am about done talking my wife and daughter into a new smoker for xmas too.
I have a bradley and don't much want another it started to crack and fall apart after one year or so. I have heard good things about the masterbuilt.
If you have a smoker post up what kind and how you like it. Thanks !

Re: Smokers ?
I have an electric Masterbuilt and like it pretty well. I've had it about 3 years now but just started using it a lot this past year. My son bought it for me for Christmas 1 year and I didn't know anything about smoking meat until I started watching great YouTube videos. I know my smoker isn't a real expensive model but with it being electric it hold the temperature well. If I used a smoker a lot more I would want a bigger model than what I have now.

Re: Smokers ?
I started with a Big Chief, then a Bradley 4 rack digital smoker, then got more serious and got a Camp Chef 36" Pellet Smoker (which is the clear winner by a long shot), then added a Masterbuilt Pro XL propane to the collection, and recently purchased a Weber Kettle Performer. I'm a foodie with a huge passion for smoking. I haven't tried my new Weber Kettle yet so I can't comment on it. The pellet smokers are my favorite hands down and I've produced a lot of competition quality bbq from them. I strongly recommend the pellet smokers for everything. Very interestingly, Weber has joined the pellet smokers arena with a revolutionary new pellet smoker called the Woodfire Pellet Smoker that is either available now or January. I've watched some great reviews by Pitmasters Harry Soo and Babybackmaniac. These are guys I've followed and trust and they love it. They said it's comparable to a Texas style stick burner offset smoker in flavor and quality. This will most likely be finding a home with me soon. Good luck with your search.

1960's Hospital Food Warmer Conversion:
Near 400 pounds of thick stainless with 2.5" compressed insulation all round, thankfully on wheels!!
Powered by a 6 stage programmable PID with dual temperature probes (ambient in smoker and inside product) which runs two ceramic high end hot plates. Duel chimneys.
Also has an external HotBox for Cold Smoking (watch for my thread on cold smoking tuna this winter!)
Best build I've ever done, and most likely, my last!
Cheers,
Nog

Re: Smokers ?
You can make a smoker out of just about any thing. I made mine from a large file cabinet Insolated it and covered it with cedar it works like a charm . Can smoke a lot of summer sausage 100# at a time.

Re: Smokers ?
Hard to beat a Masterbuilt electric. Reasonably priced, well built, 2 sizes, and efficient.. I know of several that are used a ridiculous amount by hardcore guys. Still going strong. I have the smaller 30" and I have never ran out of room.

Re: Smokers ?
Thanks for the replies now I'm even more unsure what I need lol
Re: Smokers ?
This is pretty much the same cuts and quantity I do every year. Sausages second run.
My smoker is made of stainless steel though.
It took me just one season (10 years ago) to find out Bradley smoker is too small for my appetite.
What do you use to generate smoke?
