Gave hunting a break yesterday

Post by longbow joe »

My local lakes western side protected bay usually freezes up by now bringing some nice ice fishing but......no ice to date so we had a 50 degree day and l decided to take the boat out and troll some spoonplugs
I caught a nice bass one the troll then hammered the giant crappie on jigs ..... Beer batter and crushed walnuts....and more beer completed a nice crappie fillet dinner.
Went out today to possibly duplicate the catch and was greeted with about an 1/8 inch of ice.... so maby this week end it will be gone..
Saturday is the last day of deer here and massive rain might drown my doe hunting l got one more tag

Nice fish LBJ!! I believe you are right about this weather and getting winter when we should be getting spring then it going right from winter to summer. Hopefully not but it sure seems like that’s the way it’s going. Congratulations on the catch and those fine crappie slabs!!

Hey LBJ...
Gotta love those slab Crappie!! Can't wait for the spawn to start down here!! Between them and the "Sandies" I try to load the boat up every spring!!

Some good looking fish Joe. I think you’re right about the weather patterns being whacked out. Seems to me that this crazy shift has been going on for a few years now. We had snow in October for the last few years, barely any in December and January, then the ice cold winter weather into late spring. Maybe the calendar needs to be reset!
