quills versus 18" black eagle

Post by Deaf jeff »

i am asking for a friend so he can decide which arrow he wants me to make for his 11 y/o daughter to shoot from a 308 short. what are the pros/cons between shooting these 2 lengths? i will be making these from black eagle executioners or zombies

I personally build and use 18” Zombie Slayer arrows! I prefer more FOC and heavier arrows. They are much more accurate and dependable too. Good luck!

The 18 is gonna stick out a little past the stirrup/small velocity loss.
The zombie /executioner is better shaft and you can go with a 110 insert and most any 100 grain head ... but my 18 year old daughter would not know the difference l assure you ...lol
Vixen 2, metal ibex,Phoenix, sapphire, matrix 330 ,matrix 355 ,vortex and baby grand piano y25 relayer.
Trigger tecs, leupold crossbones and nikon bolts.
Zombie slayers and mostly swat broadheads.

i dont know the reason he does not like the quills but he did this same thing a couple years back when he started shooting a 355 micro.. i have never seen a quill in person so i am wondering if there is any indication on the quills that can tell a person if they are BEE :?: which vane are used :?: aluminum or brass insert :?:.

I can't vouch for the new Quills, but the older ones were made by Easton. They have aluminum inserts and I think the vanes were 2 inch Blazers.
I shot these out of a Micro 355. Some shot okay. Other not so much.
I later settled on a 16.5 BEE with a 110g Brass insert. BEE's were indexed to a 0.001. 2 inch vanes were added to the rear and the tail lights are Lumenoks. I then attach 100g Swhacker's on the "pointy end"!!
The things shoot better than I can!! :eusa-doh:
Hope this helps. :D
