O/T Quarantine Day #5

Post by janesy »

Got a package last night, opened it up to find my new toy.
My Son's is on the Left and the my new one on the right. Both are 1988 700 Classics in 35 Whelen. They are both mint metal wise with a couple small details missing between the two of them. Neither is wearing the correct stock, But I don't care. The satin stock on the Left is pretty georgeous.
I also have a great gun store local that was able to hook me up through my quarantine for some reloading supplies . So I'm pretty stoked to play around a bit.

Your post made me think!

Now would be a great time to empty out the gun safe.

I don't mean sell off my guns.

Time to clean , oil , wipe them all down.

Nice rifles !

I see you are using Varget, nice powder for sure. I have an older Tika M65 in 3006 that loves Varget and H4831SC. Have you tried the H4831SC for the Whelen?

I just got the gear today to load for the Whelen. My other a whelen is a thick bush pump gun so I never bothered. It liked the corelokts enough .

I have Varget and H4895 left. But I use Varget for the 308, 7-08, 204 and 243. So I'd like to try it first so then I only ever need one powder. The last few years, since kids came around, my main focus has been to simplify everything as best I can. And reloading is the same

I haven't loaded a 30-06 yet, but I hear the Whelen eats whatever an -06 does, just a bit more :)

After the kids and wife go to bed ,this might be a good time sip some Bourbon and detail your new brass if you have some extra time to kill.

I don't mind forwarding via X POST the correct tools to uniform your primer pocket holes and de burr the flash holes.

These little steps pay dividends and assist the AccuBonds quarter your next meal, if you do your part.

I might take you up on that, let me check first. I have one for the 204, but I think it may be specific to the 204case

Varget has been one of the best all round powders since it came out. The old 3006 has been one of the best calibers of all time. The 3006 fathered so many great rounds Whalen, 270, 2506, and more have all been some great rounds.
