O/T: Besides hunting and fishing, what types of hobbies??

Post by AJ01 »

Probably the wrong place to post this, but I figured it would give some folks the opportunity to be indulged in an activity rather than just sitting in front of the television.

I know that there are some very bright and gifted people on this forum. With as many diverse backgrounds as we have here, I was wondering about the "hobbies" that some might have.
I collect Native American artifacts, old coins, and old tools.
I also keep and breed exotic pythons from New Guinea.

This gal is a Green Tree Python. And yes, she is that color with the blue stripe.
Been doing this for over 40 years now.

So....lets see your most unique hobbies!!!
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "Wow, What a Ride!

My most expensive by far is boating. Here is my last of the 3 boats I have owned. I think hunting is number 2, and then guns, and Excalibur's would be 3, maybe WIFE should be number 1.  Cheers!

I'm metal detecting all the empty parks and tot lots. Great fun and exercise. I'm up 60.00 bucks in coins so far. I'm in the process of getting permission to relic hunt our local first nation reserve land. That would be awesome as I know of one spot that is loaded with relics.

A little gold prospecting is fun but serious guys can spend a lot of time and cash on epuipement.

Lots of places to just go collect a couple buckets of samples. Label them and pan later.

Shooting shooting and more shooting. I shoot pellet guns in my indoor archery/pellet gun range in my house everyday. Some play video games and some do the real thing. Last time I played a game it cost me 25 cents and a ten cent bus ride to the local pool hall. Play hockey in wintertime 3 or 4 times a week. Most years I play summer hockey as well in Collingwood. HHMMM! Life as a 60 year old goalie. Not many my age still play goal due to bad knees.

During the off season I still spend a lot of time outdoors. I picked up a jetski about four years ago and my wife and I have managed to put it in every decent body of water within six hours. We've had it on Kerr Lake, Smith Mountain Lake, Jordan Lake, Lake Anna and the Chesapeake Bay just to name a few. It's even been on the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. I'm probably on the short list of people crazy enough to go 70 mph on the Shenandoah. Prior to a couple years ago year, we logged over 50 hours a year on it. Then the Bass Tracker came along.

The past few years we've also enjoyed some serious ATV riding. We've rode on 7 of the 8 trails in the Hatfield McCoy Trail system. This pandemic is delaying our trip to ride the final trail. While I am in WV, its about five hours to the closest of the trails so its a long weekend each time. There's never enough time to play with all the toys. That's why I had to get rid of the Bass Tracker. It was consuming all of my time (and money).

After that ....l have no more money for any other hobbies
Like dan ...l like beer too. Enjoy trying new brew pubs and restaurants and food that clogs arteries
I live in a house full of women...l can get up and basically do anything l want till noon or 1 on any Saturday or Sunday and they are just getting started ...l love it!

Well I have enjoyed a life time of hunting, fishing, shooting, reloading, gardening, when I was a young boy I used to snare rabbits to eat.
Now my most precious hobby I consider gifts from God. I am sharing a little video, we now have 2 but you’ll get the idea.
