hypothetical trigger failure question

Post by dithian »

Hi everyone,

I'm just curious, have any of you ever had a trigger on a crossbow release when it shouldn't? The triggers seem so well designed and made that I haven't had anything but the highest faith, but I know even the best machines will eventually give out.

My first rifle when I was a kid was a .22, and it had a hair trigger. I'm not sure why my dad thought that was a good idea, or why he never bothered having it fixed. There were several times when it went off just because it was bumped, and one time I nearly shot my brother by accident. The one good thing that came out of it is that I'm aware that a firearm of any kind has the potential of just going off, so I'm hyper-vigilant about what's happening at the business end of a weapon.

It has happened to the 405s that was taken care of. There is a rare condition where the bow goes off when the safety is taken off. That last one is kinda telling. The safety should never come off until the shooter is on target and ready to release the arrow.

Don is correct. It was on my Mega 405 that it happened to when the safety was taken off. The triggers were recalled and the problem was fixed.

I don't trust any safety or trigger for that matter. They all can and will fail at some point.

Agree 100%, I treat every loaded weapon as if it will fire at any second.

The two most dangerous things ever said to a man: "How do you feel about my mother?" and "Don't worry, it isn't loaded."
