Swat question

Post by longbow joe »

Now that norm posted his tree he killed.. thanks buddy.
I was intrigued at the way the swat held up and caved in and bought em.....both the A4 and mini .
Last year l tried the shwacker hybrids was impressed with the 3 kills with them but the penetration was not on par with other mechanicals that l used.
I will definitely report on the swat and am looking forward to giving them a honest try.
My question is do you recommend the better quality milstrap band or is the stock ok?

Two kinds of milstrap spare bands are included. Both full duty straps.
The black has better cold/freezing temperatures elasticity.

NOTE:
Newer packs may have a colored branded milstrap bands with the SWAT logo featured instead of a black one.

Both are made to keep them banded shut on launch and I have tested them shooting through paper over 500 fps.

They do open on impact as their supposed to.

Back in June Jeff arrowed a bear clean thru and deep into the ground using the SWAT . After cleaning and inspection a new milstrap strap was installed since no blades bent.

Below is a photo of my X MAG that cut / broke ribs in and out then severed the upper front leg bone completely on a decent bear this spring with only the 2
Blades bent slightly only.

In my own testing, the Hybrid shot in the open position at 450 fps impacted next to field points . I suggested buyers shoot them in the open position.

I haven't had any game feedback from customers who bought the Hybrid unfortunately.
SWAT has a few videos on their Facebook site last time I checked

OK the big question, how do you get them back in open position.

2 come that way but 3rd is closed. I played a bit but even finding a tiny enough screwdriver was a challenge.

Surprised they didn't use a tiny Allen screw.!!

OK put on a leather glove and really loosened screw and then held tension on blade tip and then it tightened ok

Thanks for info on shooting on open position .

But closed they are compact fer sure!

I took the milstrap off and used my fingernail.
Try screwing a Hybrid onto an arrow and push blades individually open against the edge of a block of wood .

I like the A4-Mini, and it is very accurate. Now I have to choot sumptin!  I ordered extra Milstraps, so I'm going to use them exclusively with these heads.

Its kinda like, dozens of comparison videos for all kinds of broadheads but nothing really comparing swat .

No gel tests , angle shots , Field point accuracy. Etc.

SWAT Broadhead is a small unselfish US and Veteran run company that doesn't promote an expensive marketing campaign like some of the bigger players in the Broadheads market.

Being Anti Big Box Store, SWAT relies on a supportive dealer only network to use and promote their quality , accurate, large cut mechanical heads.

As a mechanical broadhead user and enthusiast since the mid 90's I can't help but assist a company like SWAT because I owe to my game to efficiently kill my dinner first and foremost.

I shoot a4 swat out of my bulldog 400

Shoot just like my field points and never open early

Best mechanical broadband I have ever shot.

My only complaint is that I find it impossible to replace the blades myself on my broadheads. I will be sending them back to swat so they can do it for me.

Well I guess ,hopefully, that I can give a positive review of shooting the hybrid swat.

I'll be shooting it in the closed position.

We shall see !
