I hope you heal well and fast but it was an accident that should have never happened. If you had bothered to wear a safety harness you would not have fallen over a foot or two. Always wear a safety belt or harness even when working on or checking a stand. I did that once almost 40 years ago and broke 5 bones when I hit the ground. Never again....

Glad to hear you're gonna be okay!! And as Norm said, it's painful just to read the post. :(

I had an uncle who hunted from an old wooden stand on his property for years. I was on him about either fixing that one or quit climbing!! He was 73 at the time. Well, you guessed it. The stand collapsed under his feet. He fell like 12-15 feet, no one else around, no cell phone, broke leg, broke ribs and lacerations. :eusa-doh:
He had to CRAWL about a quarter mile back to his truck, then drove himself to the hospital!!!! :wtf: He healed, and was back at it next season. However, this time it was from a box blind on the ground!!!

Hope ya have a SPEEDY recovery!! Prayers for you and your family!!!

Glad you’re ok. A colleague from where I used to work same thing happened during his deer hunt except he ended up paralyzed and nearly died from so much blood lost.

.....Wow!

I read through all of the postings and the only thing I can think of is, if you didn't find God before the fall.....I sure hope you found Him, or should I say He found you at the time and after the fall....You truly are Blessed for sure.....

Your post reminded me of a few others I seen over the years. One was of a fellow whose hand was stuck full of carbon fibre shards after firing an arrow that had developed fractures. It shattered and stabbed him. He had failed to check his arrows. Another was of a fellow who failed to remove an arrow while his foot was still in the stirrup, and he lowered the string. He had allowed himself to be distracted. Another was of a fellow who didn't keep his thumb out of the way when he fired his bow. Another distraction problem. Most of us have dry fired. Distraction again.

The point of reciting these various calamities is to confirm that we likely all owe something to each of them. We owe them for their strength of character in telling us about their lapses in judgement, and not being too embarassed to share with us.

I've been blessed with a generous helping of dumb luck. I've done lots of dumb things. I've just been lucky enough not to be punished for it. I think I usually learn from my stupid mistakes. What I already know is reinforced by reading about other peoples' mistakes.

Thanks for sharing. Reinforcement is good.

Get well, quickly.
