Gotta ask

Post by elkaholic »

I see a lot of the newer bolts have "Armor tough inserts"

Something new,?

Wondering what material they are made of ?

Here's all I could find.

Armor Tough Inserts employ an over-the-shaft design to increase shaft integrity and prevent mushrooming at the leading edge.

I think there are a basic aluminum outer inserts available to archers using small diameter carbon shafts. Not useful for us crossbow users the way I see it.

Those 52 gr inserts are aluminum and offer the same performance and toughness like any other aluminum insert but not offering any advantage because aluminum inserts can crack and deform under impact pressure.

Double carbon wall Aero Concept arrows featuring SS inserts are the toughest arrows I can think of and can still be compromised in some hunting conditions I have found.

The way I see it your quoted Armor Tough advertising is just that.

Just a way to separate the money from your wallet.

I personally prefer and use the brass inserts in my bolts!
