Sorry, the lower pic is after I dressed him, that was the entry would. You can see how much of stomach is protruding, and that was dirt side down. The Kid was like, where did you shoot him? Anyway, that Swat cut the back of the left lung at the top, sliced the heart diagonally, and took the top of the right lung about 1/4 of the way down. I like those heads with the new tip, they work on a tight quartering shot. I'm staying out of the woods until 11-21, I have one doe tag, any weapon. I'm going back & forth, hand gun, or Matrix 380? The Kid said he'll have his buck by then. We like to use the does for bait, best scent out there! :eusa-shhh:

Congrats on the buck! That looks like a fine shot to me. Nice work on the recovery.

Don't belittle your accomplishment. As far as I'm concerned every deer is a trophy. That's a nice buck and I can assure you that lots of people reading this forum would be thrilled to tag that deer. Congratulations!

Don’t misunderstand me, I’m very proud of my buck, just glad I found him. I’m not ever ashamed of any deer I decide to shoot . The fact that there are bigger bucks on the farm didn’t cause me any pause or remorse.

Funny, but I think you and I have similar seasons going so far. I've killed a 7 point buck and a doe (if memory serves me right, you have too) and now I'm on the bench waiting for firearms season. I have several more archery antlerless tags but I can't shoot another buck until during or after gun season. My freezer can only handle one more deer so I'll wait. It looks like you have had almost exactly the same experience. I'm pleased with my season so far but I'm not quite satisfied yet.

I have one doe tag, can get two more in this county that we hunt, but I signed up for a State Park reduction hunt & got drawn. It's 3 tags, one can be a buck. That is November 30, December 1st, just the two days. I'm hoping to get a buck and a doe, will donate the meat. I'm good for this year really.
Good Luck the rest of the way! I'm a fair weather hunter now.  I hope it's not too crappy when the Reduction Hunt gets here. I don't mind cold, it's the wet windy crap I dislike! :eusa-snooty:
