Last bow hunt of the season for me

Post by xcaliber »

Tomorrow I'm hunting with the Axe, and hoping to film a doe kill. After that, I'm going to hunt with my handgun, but I can only harvest a doe. I am going on a reduction hunt 11-30 & 12-1 and will get three tags, one can be used for an antlered deer. This hunt is gun only! I will most likely take the .44 magnum since it is technically a public land hunt, and I want my deer down quickly! Hoping everyone is enjoying their time in the woods!
Good luck all!

Good luck! I was out last night and had a buck chasing a doe at 60 yds with no shot possible. It was fun though.
I can bowhunt until Jan, 31st. 1 buck tag and unlimited doe tags.

Good luck Dan. Never have used a handgun for hunting but always wanted to try. Maybe one day I'll get around to do it. Always pictured myself trying it out on hogs for some reason. Whats your set up on your 44? Good luck again and be safe!

Handgun is a.243 CVA with a Burris Fast Fire 3, the.44 is a CVA Scout rifle single shot with a Leupold 3x9x40 scope. I’m going to use my handgun on private land.

I will be getting back to my hunting schedule tomorrow. We had warm weather, broken truck, well pump quit and our dog passed away all in the same week. After taking care of all that unpleasantness it will seem nice to get back out there. Good luck you guys.
Take care

I have a Thompson Center Pro Hunter 30-06 pistol with a Precision Armament muzzle break that makes a good public land weapon because it is so easy to pack it and extra clothes in deep to get away from the crowds.

I finally saw a buck mauling a doe in the field across the street today. He was a hog! He would not leave her alone, so it's game on here. I think we've hit it about 4 days or so now.

Good Luck Steve.

Doc says my broken vertebrae have mended but still have a torn rotator cuff to deal with. Been getting out about once a week. Still sore but tired of sitting around watching TV. Had forkhorn and 26 turkeys walk past this afternoon. Tough getting to the stands but I've got to keep trying.

Where is your park hunt? We are at Potato Creek 11-16/17. Saw 6 bucks and 3 does last Saturday when hanging stands. It is definately happening in LaPorte/St Joe county area. I am on vacation next week to stack em up in gun season. I havent hunted much yet due to my dad passing away on Oct 1st. Really took the wind out of my sails this season. Good luck to you guys.

Potato Creek, last split. Good luck with your hunt. First split should be great!

Working on getting er done Dan
actually going tomorrow morning for the first time in 2 or 3 years,
the hardest part is getting up in the tree stand,
been up 3 times this wk. to make sure ,
I got 2 ground blinds up but as long as weather permits I will be in a tree,
at 78 everything is three times as hard, but I have been blessed to give it a go

Dave :eusa-dance:
good luck to all
