Back into Hunting

Post by Blacksmith »

HI all!! I posted this in Trading Post by mistake so it was recommended to put it here. Just getting back into Crossbows after many years of hunting with smokepoles. Friend gave me an older Wolverine, no arrows, no scope. I ordered a new string and a scope mount form Excalibur and would appreciate any and all advice on Arrows, silencers, especially on a choice of scope.

Since posting before it was brought to my attention that a person on this forum had a problem with a Wolverine firing when he was using the safety. That is my impreesion of what he said. Is there any safety issues with the Wolverine? I got it for free so I only have the string and Scope mount costs it it at this time.

Thanks, I am in Ontario near Kingston if there are any other forum members in my area.

Thanks! Man...the choices of crossbows out there is mind blowing! I"m on a tight budget and still not sure if shooting the old Wolverine is a good idea. I have looked at the budget crossbows but none seem to come a decent scope. Ant recommendations?

Welcome to the forum! The person most knowledgeable about the Wolverine is Danny Miller 740 483 2312. I have a Wolverine but like many people that own them, we don't shoot them. But some still are used for hunting that's for sure. Danny will be your Huckleberry. Just tell him that Don sent you.
I don't have an Excalibur for sale but what is your budget?

Thanks for the info. Pretty small budget really. I"m looking at the Centerpoint Sniper XT 390. Everything I"ve read though says the scope is crap.

Danny is happy to help anyone. He may have a used Excalibur for sale. No harm in asking.

Thankyou! I am tempted to contiue using the Wolverine. What I need is a good Scope with the speedring addition that will dial down to the Wolverines speed which is approx. 285. Correct me if I am wrong on the speed.
