need help (again).

Post by figam »

Stripped threads in my rail when attaching stock to rail. rear area where bolt has to be tightened thru trigger. As I was at a lodge I had to improvise. I inserted a screw and tightened it having to slightly increase the whole thru trigger. N
eed suggestions on how to repair as I don't trust screw. as always thanks!

I JB welded home a appropriate sized aluminum tapped home made square nut (3/16 " thick) to the inside mainframe.
Actually , I fixed another friends bow this way too.

A Sheet Nutsert is your permanent fix. Either buy a kit (they aren't expensive) or have Excalibur fix it for you.

The one below is metric so you'll have to find an SAE kit.

Isn't a #12 machine screw a 7/32 screw? I'm asking. I'm not as familiar with SAE sizes vs metric

Don, I'm not sure .I just know its bigger than a #10. The one I did, I went to a 6mmsomething because I couldnt find a #12 with a correct head at the local big box home store. I had some metric taps from some door hardware work ,so Thats what it got. 6mm gets close but it worked fine. (7/32 is probably at least really close.)
