Adopted a new dog

Post by Hatchet »

After being without a dog since November when our hound Sadie Mae passed we decided it was time for a new companion. We went to a Shelter and adopted a hound mix named Jake. We go pick him up tomorrow after he has his "procedure" this afternoon. Looking forward to teaching him. He is a year and a half old and has been at the shelter for a couple months. He was outside on a chain before that and he has no leash manners. I think with some patience and time he will make a perfect dog for our homestead.
We have kinda been lost since Sadie passed. Taking our afternoon walks alone has shown us that without a family dog we are just a bunch of hillbillies that share a house.😁
Take care

Good luck with the new hound! As hard as it is to let them go, I can’t imagine being without one.

That’s great! I’m sure the new addition will be filling a void that needs filling! There’s few things better than a young dog!

Pretty busy couple of days for us and the new hound Jake. Today he got a new bed, rode in the old pickup, and chased the chickens a little bit. He has always been either outdoors or at the shelter. He is fascinated by everything in our house. Had to get a different collar because he was dragging us all around and half choking himself. Once we got the new collar we went on a couple walks and it was a lot better. He is very gentle with people and I think he's gonna do just fine here on the homestead.

Carnivorous that is one adorable puppy for sure. Hoping you have many years together.

Thanks for all the kind words guys
Take care and stay well everyone
