Bear back from taxi

Post by Species8472 »

This was a bear i took while early season deer hunting last fall. Taken by crossbow (Matrix 380 - aka the Kayla bow) at 22 yards.

Driving home:

Pic with my noggin beside for scale, my face is actually closer to the camera so the bear looks smaller than it actually is. Skull green scored 19 5/8 inch. Still in my freezer - plan is to do my own euro mount with it:

Beauty bear mount!!!

Spring bear season is almost HERE!!!
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

very nice... you Canadian guys make me have bear envy!!

One of these days I'll save enough pennies to get up north for a hunt... until then I'll just stick with the ol' stinky boar hogs... 8)

We actually have huge bears on the coast of South Carolina and a lot of them... they're just hard to hunt... no baiting and very swampy!

Very nice...
Every taxidermist animal l bring home my wife greets me at the sliding door and says "welcome " to the new critter. With a smerk!
We recently gave away a mounted fox l killed with my longbow about 20 years ago ...it was sad the mount was pealing off his ears kinda due to many little kids probing him over the years...now I'm gonna replace him with a coyote when l kill a decent one....
I didn't tell her this just yet but that's the goal...she thinks she's ahead now with The little extraction and well let her gloat a little bit 😉
