308 short banshee

Post by Bansheeslayer »

Hello all I am new to the forum.
I have a 308 short banshee and I love it. Harvested 3 deer with it last year with no issues all at 30 yards. Just curious as to what is everyone’s take on a good arrow weight for this bow? Currently using pro flights with 150 grain bolt cutters.

You are perfect right there at 400Grn.

308 shorts are wonderful little bows!

First of all, Welcome to the Forum!!!
Lots of good folks on here!!
Glad to have ya!!

Like Chris said, that "400gr. sweet spot" works well for the smaller bows! You put one of those in the "boiler room" and you'll be making plenty of deer sauage!!
Looks like you have already figured that out!! Congrats on the 3 deer!!

There is one NIB on CGN that I keep watching. Would be good to get one in a box and throw it under the bed until the kids are ready.

The heavier the better with those short arrows if you're running Blazers(or similarly stiff vanes). Just a theory I have but I believe stiff vanes reduce penetration somewhat by requiring more force to pass through hide and flesh than other Vane options. With the faster bows shooting longer arrows of course it never comes into play, I personally have had several instances of the shorter/lighter arrows (16"/356gr)failing to pass through fully even after switching to cut on contact fixed blade BH's. I eventually went to a 411gr arrow with the same Fixed Blade BH's and began getting consistent pass throughs. Just my .02
