Hawk crawler deer cart update

I'm really loving the hawk crawler deer cart. It was actually bigger in person than l thought .
Very sturdy and well built.
I was carting my 21 year old daughter in the yard last night...Yes it was all good until the handle kinda folded and we crashed...all good no one hurt.
My fix was two hose clamps down from the wing nut thing which l think is a little whimpy in design lm not intending on folding the thing anyway seems much better.
Tonight I'm going to see if she wants to test it again but I'm kinda thinking of a no answer but maby I'll ask someone else .
All good thanks for your positive input on the cart everyone.
I'm probably gonna give it a camo paint job just in case l gotta stash it someday to make it less visible to a "dishonest hunter" ...plus it will look cool when l whip it out when with my brother on a hunt.

I have a few suggestions for you. First reposition the fabric under the tightening knob so you can tighten the folding section better. You have the fabric between the two metal sections which leave a gap and won't allow both sections to mate well. Hence, removing the folding issue you had.

Second, I bought two quick disconnect pins inexpensively and drilled the two support halves for a positive attachment instead of clamps.

Third, not needed but I bought a replacement pair of 3" round rubber ergonomic tight down nuts from McMaster Carr.

To protect the fabric between the tightening knob and tube I used a bit of duct tape. New carriage bolts were used with the new knobs.

Looks good! I should bite the bullet and pull the trigger on one myself…the Jet Sled works well but this would be so much easier.

I pulled the trigger and ordered a Hawk Crawler cart from Scheel’s at $169.99
TodayI get a MidwayUSA flyer and they have the Hawk Crawler on sale for $119.99!!
I got ahold of Scheel’s to cancel the order (it shipped today) and the guy said he would “price match” the cart. He looked it up online and found it on the Midway website and said “Wow! That’s a good price, and refunded my card for the difference…thanks MidwayUSA!

That's crazy how cheap they go on sale down there. Best I've every seen up here is 199. Which would be around $150 right now give or take.

Good idea with the extra pins to get a positive connection between the handle and frame…mine should be here later this week. Thanks for the tips!

That is the best price I have ever seen on a Hawk Crawler cart and especially with the free shipping also. :eusa-dance:

That's a great price 👍
I did what norm suggested but l sandwiched two 5/16
Fender washers between the nylon Webb it squashed it rather than ripped it when you turn the nob.

Got my Hawk Crawler today. Put it together in about an hour and used the fender washer trick on the webbing…didn’t drill extra holes for the quick-pins yet but probably will soon. Now to kill something so I can try it!
Only one part missing…one valve stem cap…all the way from CHINA , not too bad, all things considered!

CT HUNTER, may I ask what Midway charged you for shipping?
I wanted to order one at $119 for my brother for his birthday but they want over $50 for shipping! I’ll be ry Scheel’s again to see if they will price match another one…they only charged $9.99 for shipping!
Thanks!
