New broadheads don't always mean sharp broadheads. I don't think I've ever hunted with something out of the package. But that's just me.
My experience is that where you hit them has a lot to do with your blood trail. A spitfire makes a big hole IMO so I don't think that is it. Where are you hitting them? Maybe a tad high, or back? Sounds like you are still getting both lungs since they don't go far. Check this out.

Yes you are right I have hit some of the deer high and back futher then I wanted and still took out the lungs that's a very good article. It probably sounds like I just started hunting but I have been at it for sometime (I am 72) but this is just my second year with a crossbow and never use mechanical broad heads before I've hunted with compound bow muzzle loader shotgun for deer.
Thanks for the article
and good hunting to all

Don't forget that sometimes things happen that make it nearly impossible to find blood. This buck went about 100 yards or so, and only bled for about 20 of those yards. You can see one trickle down his side.

Ranch Fairy has a good video on why bloodtrails are so unpredictable.
