Wow, not a drop of blood for 75 y.
Congrats on finding him. That's is a nice deer!
With a 100 grain 2inch swhacker you would think you would have some blood. The shot was low and toward the back entering the liver area and must have hit an artery because inside was full of blood.
Did you have an entry and exit hole with the Scwacker?
To my understanding Schwackers to not deploy on entry ( hence, a small entry hole) .
Upon exit most report a significant hole to bleed from.
Am I correct thinking you may have not had and exit hole??

No pass through the swhacker opened up and turned and went up in him and while tracking him I found the arrow where it fell out of him. That's how I found him about 20 yards away in the thick pines laying in a gully. Thickest skin deer I ever skinned.

I am thinking the swhacker opened in flight ..I don't know but the arrow fell out and the lumenok being lit showed me the way to him.

Great Buck and a fine way to end your drought!

Good thing for that Luminok!
I don't shoot any arrow without one.

Cheers,

Whatever happened, recovery in 75 yards with no blood trail is a good problem to have!

I use the GREEN 2" cut Swhackers all the time, well, almost all the time. There are times I shoot a fixed blade. But that's another story.
I have NEVER (knock on wood), had one open in flight. I change/replace the bands on mine before the season starts. No issues.
I have had 2 occasions where I had poor blood trails. Both times It was because I messed up. I shot the Deer too high up in the chest cavity.

Any time you use a mechanical, things can go wrong. They can go wrong with fixed too!!

This is a 2" cut Swhacker...

And yes, this is the exit wound!
I like them.

But broadheads are like wives.....they are a personal choice!!

.
That was my first kill with the swhackers and the green 2inch ones are what I used. I did think about the bands being week and needed changed but I also think it was a lot of Operator error also. As always I have went over the hunt/kill over in my head and wondered what I could have done better because Iike most want a good clean quick kill.
