Anyone employ an electronic grunt/deer call out there? Remote control?

I don't know about your state, but in PA I believe it is illegal to use one for both deer and turkeys.

They aren't legal for use in Big Game hunting in my jurisdiction, so I have no experience with them.

I can see how an electronic call could give an advantage. If the recording being played is an animal of the species being hunted, in theory that would be a benefit. I'm not sure, however, how real is the benefit in that respect. Non electronic calls usually sound pretty genuine (to my ears anyway), and during the rut, even a badly sounded call likely sounds pretty good.

I think the biggest benefit would be having a call that can be remotely operated. Animals have an amazing ability to pinpoint exactly the source of a sound. It is therefore a flaw in our set ups to make a call from the same location where we are hiding. Many times I've had elk come within spitting distance of my stand, looking around for the cow that was calling from there minutes ago. It's nice to have them come so close, but sound and movement by the hunter sure becomes a greater concern.

If electronic calls are legal for you, I'd say, go for it.

Yes,it's amazing how those deer can zero in within a few yards/feet from the location that the grunt was made. I just had that experience! That is why I am searching to see what might be out there. Ideally a call that has a decent speaker with adjustable volume ,be easy to transport and could be located within shooting distance from your position and be remote controlled with a hand held fob! So the hunt will continue to see if any are available out there! Thanks for your comment!
