In my one stand there is about a 15 year old repeatedly used scrape ,l usually pour or spray some doe p and rough it up and that really gets it active again.
The other day l had 6 bucks hitting it but none were shooters for me.
During the rut l have always hunted the funnels and corridors l have found it to be the best success for me personally.
I love the long strips that are say 30 yards wide if you set up In the middle you have the whole thing covered, that's how the wensels hunted from what l have read .
These corridors almost always have the most scrapes and rubs anyway.

One of the many smaller bucks hammering the year after year scrape.
The last week action has really slowed and l am baffled.

Now to do more scouting to find those pinch points and funnels.

In my later years l am relating hunting more to fishing more than ever.
The deer love swamp edges and any kind of "transition " from say a field to a thorny mess just as a bass on a breakline.
The deer love following the river where l hunt possibly because it forces them to follow and a lot of good stuff grows along it even during hot weather.
The one spot the river meets a lake and the funnel is between the lake and river about 30 yards....a perfect funnel.
There are absolutely advantages to hunting a place for years you have the past knowledge of success and failure going for you but hunting a new place is also very exciting also.
Look for old wooden stands of the past hunters...they were put there for a reason.
One year l found an old stand that was rebuilt many many times from a past hunter....a few nights near it in my climber told me why it was put there it was a Hotspot to say the least.

I’m a transition zone hunter as well. Once you find their natural trails you can start hunting the scrapes and rubs that seem to get refreshed year after year.

I left one of my Game Cameras set up on a rub/scrape line. It's an old overgrown logging road about 1/4 way down a steep ridge. I will check for pics next time I go.

This area is along a big creek and is composed of steep ridges and deep ravines. Lot's of deer sign on this old road. The scouting of this large area has just begun!! I hope my legs hold up!!

I hunt a funnel corner between 2 woods, lot's of rubs, scrapes, I have a 18' ladder stand set up near some heavy cover with trails coming out of it. yesterday I saw a buck mount a doe after coming out of the thick stuff. First time I've seen that in person. The rut is going on hard here with lot's of action in the mornings. I used to be a evening only hunter but now I'm seeing lots more deer in the mornings.

You might try hunting the tops of those deep ravines, they don't want to cross them. That is where we have the most consistent success.
