Dunno you can see some bones in there .
I'm surprised you didn't use the superfreaks you had a lot of luck with them in the past l liked them too.
We need dr quincy on this one !
Best guess was it was maby just to forward ,not enough lung maby.

My guess is that from a tree stand, with that entrance is you hit the offside shoulder, OR you hit the near side scapula and the BH deflected a bit causing the arrow to try to bend while going through that bone, and it broke. I've had that happen before exactly as you describe. Arrow broken, with the part in the deer up against the offside but no pass through. Did you go through the top of the lungs? The blood vessels up there are plentiful, but not that big so it takes more time for the blood pressure to drop to a critical level. Probably why she went so far and hung on so long.

My 2 cents

I did hit too far forward Keith so I guess what you said makes sense. Maybe I clipped a vessel or artery but I know it hit the off side shoulder. These deer are really tough animals. I was glad I was using a fixed blade instead of a mechanical. I don't think I would of gotten the penetration.

forward is OK but better if it's lower. ANd for this exact scenario is why I too shoot fixed. How heavy was the arrow?

This is a good video on an anatomically correct deer.
