Half an hour before there’s even a bit of a glow from the east.

I got in the stand at 5:30 am the other day. Sunrise was like 7:15. Any kind of usable light was about 6:30.
I had a lone deer walk up beside the stand at 5:45

As early as possible. I use actual daylight time and try to be in my stand and settled one hour before that time.

Not a big fan of morning hunts. I seem to get busted and my hunt is over before it starts!!! Lol

Give me an afternoon hunt anytime!

Actually for me, as the morning light starts in the east. I like to be going to my stand. I can't see what sex a tick toter is in the dark. If a tick toter hears or smells me going to stand. I don't sweat it as there will be another coming for breakfast. I don't do afternoon/evening hunts anymore. They bust you way too many times coming down or out

I now only hunt morning. It’s great to have the sun come up and brighten things up. It’s great to track in daylight. The rut was definitely on in the morning this year as compared to evening hunts. I get to my tree as soon as I can.

Our shooting hours start at on half hour before sunrise. I try to get into my stand ab9ut 10 - 15 mi8nutes before shooting hours begin. It seems plenty dark when I go in and I don't have a long wait until it's legal to shoot.

I like to be in my stand and fully ready about 15-20 minutes before legal shooting light. Typically its very hard to differentiate between a doe and a small spike buck during the first and last ten minutes of legal light. For that reason, I reserve the first and last ten minutes for deer with obvious headgear. So 15-20 minutes before I can legally shoot is really more like 30 minutes before I actually would.

I prefer to be in my stand at least an hour or hour and a half before first light. I factor in how long it will take me to get to my tree and set up time since it is a climbing tree stand. This means I'm up very early in order to keep from climbing the tree in the daylight.

It's not so bad considering if I don't shoot a deer, I have several hours to rest up.

I have that problem really bad here in SE WI. I was out Saturday morning and had 3 yotes running around my woods and one was in the field barking. Not a deer to be seen after they came thru! Leave a deer at night here and kiss it goodbye!
