The ultimate crossbow scope!

Post by Carnivorous »

Had the vortex viper XBR before but I foolishly gave up on it.

These became available again from eurooptic.com at a steal of a deal so me being me I bought it again.. lol

This time I did my homework and found the solution to the issue I had before.

This scope has the an elevation turret but I found with a zero moa mount I only had about 20 up clicks with a 30 yard zero.

The solution was a 20moa mount. This gave me 44 up clicks with a 30 yard zero.. :)

Pushed it out to a 40 yard zero with 20 upclicks.

I plan to test it out to 60 yards to see if it will cooperate..

Glass is superb on this scope. It's big and long but with glass like this I can live with the size.. :)

Did you give up on the Leupold 1.25-4x VXR Patrol? I thought you had one…

This is my favourite scope for a crossbow but it’s definitely not crossbow specific.
•small overall length, very lightweight
•very clear sight picture, edge to edge definition is great
•VXR illumination is tough to beat, has auto shut-off
•reticle is easy to use, has multiple holdovers
•you can use the elevation turret for dialing in a given distance (with a 30y zero, I can get out to 65y in one turn of the dial) OR you can use the reticle for hold-overs

I’ve looked through the XBR and they are very, very nice scopes.

Still have the patrol but it's getting nervous... lol

I looked and thr price of the rings is obscene! Out of curiosity, why didn't you put on a HHA Tetra or a Jackplate?

Yep nightforce mounts are made of gold! Lol I searched high and low in Canada for a low 20moa cantaliver mount. It's the only one that checked all the boxes. Once I had it mounted I found it was worth every penny... :)

HHA or Jack plates are ok but I like me scope as low as possible. They tend to sit very high.

I'm using the top turret to dial up aimpoints out to 40yards so far. I think I have enough up clicks out to 60 yards. Will be testing that soon... :)

Update on the XBR.

Got it all dialed in out to 60 yards using the elevation turret. Even made my own custom turret yardage markers!

Too bad my deer hunting season is pretty much done! Lol

60 yards using the main crosshair.
