Snow, snow, snow!!

Post by Hatchet »

Just finished cleaning up the recent snow dump! Wow! Ya know we made it to the end of January here before getting any real amount of snow? I was talking with the old Dude next door and told him we could get caught up on our snowfall real quick and just like that we got two good storms back to back! I would say we are all caught up now. Time for the Big Melt and mud season. Bring on that mud!

Hoping everyone is well and that the weather is agreeable wherever you hang yer hat.
Be well

No snow so far....

But is was 24 the other day and we had sleet and a little ice mixture. Roads never got slick. No problems. Unlike this time last year!!

We have had our share. I love snow, but can't shovel. Dr.'s orders, and the warden keeps me in check.

Normally I love winter. But this recent cold snap (-20 overnights) and so much powdered snow that my snowmobile gets bogged down in it has me looking forward to spring. Right now I am preparing our equipment to make some maple syrup. 3 seasons coming right up in rapid succession. Maple syrup season, Mud season, Turkey season!
Take care

Where are all the refineries?
Texas.
The Gulf Coast region from Orange all the way down to Corpus Christi is nothing but one huge chemical plant complex that runs 24/7. That's roughly 313 miles from city to city. :eusa-think:
The Port of Houston runs crude tankers in and out of that place like a NASCAR pit crew does a tire change!!
They have been working on a pipeline that runs from the Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa) to the coast for years now. That pipe is large enough to drive an 18-wheeler inside of it!

Let a hurricane or ice storm hit us, things get messed up in a heartbeat!!

Texas is the 4th largest producer of oil in the world. A crude report for 2019 showed Texas produced an average of 8 million barrels per day.
The Texas GDP is roughly 1.8 trillion per year!!

See....things are BIGGER in Texas!!! :eusa-dance:

Oh yeah, pretty much all the plastic for the US and Canada is made in Texas!

Gonna need some fuel! Gotta keep those trucks idling!
Looks like we'll have our own fleet of idling trucks here in the US pretty soon!
Take care

TOOT TOOT!!!

I've got a son-in-law that works for Luminant. They are the "power plant" folks here in Texas. He started out at a coal-fired plant. When the last administration started closing coal-fired plants, he quickly transferred to a "natural gas" operated power plant. Texas has so much natural gas it's crazy. Companies won't even drill natural gas wells around here anymore.
Last year during the Siberian Express" here in Texas, a LOT of folks lost power for days or weeks. Why? Because they were either Solar or Wind energy powered!! When the sun don't shine and everything is frozen solid, chit don't work!! :eusa-snooty: Gas and Coal will still FIRE and run a turbine!!

The coal plants are being dismantled. And NEW Gas plants are being built!! According to the latest news, it would take a field of wind turbines the size of Montana just to power Houston.
I know driving in West Texas at night all you see for miles is blinking red lights located atop the wind turbines. They are evrywhere, yet they failed miserably last winter!!
"Nough Said!! :eusa-naughty:
