Micro Magair

Post by Boo »

I just couldn't resist so I bought a Magair :eusa-doh:
It is crazy how light the bow is so I knew the noise level was up there and it is. Its' not quite loud but it's getting there. So I made a 30 strand Astroflight string, served it 6" to accommodate the REDS that are on order. I put on one Bowjax 1036 Ultra Bow Jax II on either side of the string. I took the limb silencers from my 355 Suppressor and installed them. Screwed on a 125 gr field tip. I installed one Hushpuk on underside of each finger guard (I don't think they are made anymore) and put some RTV silicone in 3 upper grooves of the sides of the mainframe and shot it over a chronograph. I got 291 and a noticeable drop in noise. I'll be adding something to the arrow retainer and stirrup at a later date. With the scope it now weighs 5.7 lbs
The trigger is bit stiff and I'll attend to that later but it is quite acceptable. The scope is a fixed power with no illumination but that's ok because the bow is only for fun'n around. It shoulders nicely and holds well as the balance point is about 1/3rd back from the front.
All in all, this is a great bow for the money!

Thanks boo for the report.
I have found good old fashioned catwhiskers to really hush a string better than anything with only a minor speed loss.
A friend is gonna buy my 330 matrix I'm tempted to get one but for now fishing and spring turkey are lazer focused for me.
My dad was a lifelong gm mechanic all his life and said..."Joseph ...never be the first one to experiment with a new model let others try first " l guess it stuck..Also taught me to buy toyotas too love that advice. 😀
Vixen 2, metal ibex,Phoenix, sapphire, matrix 330 ,matrix 355 ,vortex and baby grand piano y25 relayer.
Trigger tecs, leupold crossbones and nikon bolts.
Zombie slayers and mostly swat broadheads.

The reasoning for mentioning the Bowjax is because anyone with paper clip can easily install them and they're cheap enough. Cat whiskers require some talent to install and not look like a rat's nest.

Nice looking “toy”
Must be a hoot to handle it as a bare bow!

I am curious, how is the serving holding up and how many shots on it? Thanks!

Sorry but I can't answer that yet. Snow and ice is stopping me from sighting it in but I've taken 10 shots and there is no marks on the serving yet. I can't imagine they are going to be much of a problem because of the low draw weight.
