Lol, the ice test is a marketing ploy... I know this, because I do it with the marketers. It's not reasonable test for real life use of a cooler. But it sure sells coolers
Granted if you wanted to haul a FROZEN packaged or Deboned harvest of any kind across the country, then the ice test is relevant.

First point... The coolers are frozen 24 hours before the test starts. Not many people can fit a 120 qrt cooler in their freezer.

2 point. The cooler can only be opened for less than 10 seconds over any 24 hour period. Long enough to snap a pic.

3 point. My cooler lasted 9 days

4th point .. if you fill a huge cooler packed tight with ice... You can't lift it, So ..

Norms advice is the best yet, get one with a set of wheels and a long handle

For the sake of the conversation tho, I froze my 60L in a walk in freezer, and then packed it at the butchers with a deer that was ground and very well frozen. It was in the cooler 5 days in the back of my truck in October before I made space in the freezer for it, and it could have gone much longer. But again, I couldn't lift the damned thing by myself

You can actually save money by spending money sometimes Joe. I do a lot of saltwater pier fishing most years so I bought a 50 quart Yeti cooler from a guy that had too many for approx 50% of retail after trying several cheap coolers out over the years. I have not bought a single bag of ice while fishing for many years since buying that cooler as I just dump the ice from the freezer in it and it lasts all day even in the hot FL weather. I had one rental that did not have an ice maker in the freezer so I ran to the dollar store and picked up a 3 pack of stackable plastic ice makers and they kept me going the month I was there.
I have transported the cooler slap full of frozen stuff and other groceries on 8 to 10 hour trips without any ice added and had nothing even start to thaw out.
I was buying at least 2 bags of ice per day when I was using cheap coolers so my expensive Yeti has more than paid for itself several times over already.

I too gave up beer drinking a long time ago. Besides who wants to lug around a bunch of cans that weigh a ton.
Besides...a bottle of Crown doesn't take up that much space!!!  :eusa-dance:
Now...that's thinking outside the cooler!!

Drove it home. Meat is in perfect shape and in 3 days hardly any ice melted. Can't beat that!

Yep the drive is brutal!

We now split the drive up. 9hrs per day! Can't do 18hrs straight anymore.

Ya no thanks, before we had kids we used to cannonball from Beaverton to Haines city(22 hours, 24 with kids). Drive through the night, hit Georgia the following afternoon, wife would drive through Georgia and then I'd to the last 4 hours through Florida.

Ya, I don't do that anymore. After you realize you loose a day of brain function from 24 in a mini van... It's easier to just do it over 2 days.

Chris I will tell you a funny story at bear camp soon about being brain dead after driving straight from Windsor Ont. to Ft Lauderdale Fl in one shot.
From our younger days of course.
