Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads
DH, I found that it took many shots into a foam target to slightly dull the TOTA.
The factory sharper is an excellent unit that does not break the bank.
Do you orient the spine between the hen feathers?

Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads
The last few sets of arrows I built I put the stiff side down toward the cock feather. I think putting it between the hen feathers would probably be best. I've heard it doesn't make much difference as long as they are all the same. I'm indexing my Matrix arrows now stiff side up and will rebuild them that way. Them being a bit longer and having slightly less FOC, I'll be interested to see how they fly with a fixed head.

Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads
Verdict?
My 18" Zombies weigh ~402 grains with a 100gr standard TOTA vented head. I thought I may need to add a little more weight to get them to fly right. It turns out that it was never a weight problem at all.
3 arrows at 40y shooting at 2" circles from a Matrix 350.
Lesson learned: If a broadhead doesn't fly right for you, maybe its you.

I couldn't agree more! Great broadheads on bad arrows = no bueno.Like Ashby says....#1 is perfect arrow flight. Once you get that you can pretty much put anything on the front.DuckHunt wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:32 pmVerdict?

Wanted to let everyone know that shoots these heads that Stay Sharp now offers a sharpening system specifically for the TOTA heads and even comes with different grits of diamond plates. Good luck to all this season

I spoke to the CEO of Tooth of the Arrow recently who mentioned this sharpener releasing soon under TOTA.

That's good to hear Norm, the original TOTA sharpener helps improve the factory edge but the F4 from Stay Sharp vastly surpasses it. I have both.

Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads
I stand corrected, TOTA is releasing their own sharpening system NOT the Stay Sharp system . My apologies.

Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads
Can't wait to hear how you guys do with these out in the field. I have so many different broadheads now from the "broadhead of the year" sickness that I don't know what to use anymore. Lost a nice buck last year with the Ser Razor, so those aren't going back on for awhile.
I've got a selection of TRUGLO Titanium X 100-Grain Crossbow Mechanicals, Magnus Black Hornet Ser Razor 4-blade 125gr, Devastation/Trailblazer Mechanical in 100gr and 125gr, and some X-Act Mechanical in 100gr. I think I still have some BoltCutters in 150gr as well.
TOTA page says the V-series is good for the crossbows. 1-inch 100gr going on people's Zombies (400gr/16.5" 410gr/18") or is the 125gr the more popular choice? Anybody going for the 1-3/16 size?

Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads
I'm using the vented XL 100gr. I've got some standard 1" for backup shots, but as well as the XL shoots it'll always be the first downrange for me.
I wouldn't hesitate to use the TRUGLO Ti-X. My house took six deer in six shots last season with the 100gr 4-blade version. To me they are are about as good as a mechanical gets and one of the few that can stay closed on launch out of the 400 Suppressor and still leave an entrance wound.
I'm hoping to send a TOTA XL through a few more deer over the next month so hopefully I can post some more real world results.
