Broadhead knife

I want to make an antler handle and fit an inset in it. Screw on a razor sharp 2-blade broadhead and “viola”.. a knife. Someone must have done this before. Anyone want to tell me why I shouldn’t, or how to do it right?

Good idea!
Just be sure to anchor the broad head so it won’t twist/turn while using the knife…unless you actually want to change blades now and then. At least put some loctite on the threads. “Stag” handled knives are my favorite and I have a small collection of Puma knives.
Post pics when you finish it or during the making process! Have fun and remember there are no limits to what you can accomplish given the desire!

The threads of the BH may not fit into the insert the same on every BH, so you may need some washers or something so it can be tight AND straight with the handle. Try a few in an insert first. Screw one in and mark where the blade lines up, then repeat and see if they all line up. If you use something with replaceable blades then you could just swap blades. But I think a big huge fixed (like for trad bows) would look cooler

I would use some J B Weld epoxy on the insert and the threads of the broad head, you do not want the blade to suddenly turn on you when you are using it.
You can always sharpen a traditional head if it gets dull so I would epoxy it in.
I think it is a fine idea if done properly.

So far I picked and cut the , shaped the front end CC the way I want it, and set the insert. The insert is epoxied. I indexed it so the blade is the way I want it when fully tight. I put flat spots on the insert and made pins that will keep it from ever turning even if the epoxy fails. The pins are recessed and hidden. I’m trying to decide what to do with the butt of the handle. It does have the pedisile.
