O/T Kryptec Raid Axe/340

Post by AJ01 »

I have a question for the knowledgeable on this forum. :eusa-think:

When Excalibur first introduced the Micro 340 (back when it was the Axe) before the name change, was it offered in Kryptec Raid camo where the frame and riser were Kryptec and the limb assembly was Realtree Advantage?

If so, why the two completely different camo patterns on one crossbow? And how many of this odd combination were ever sold?

I have an original Axe, Kryptek Raid. The limbs and stock are Raid, the rail is aluminum in gray. Excalibur had to drop the Axe name for some legal dispute. The original Axe Raid was a dealer only model not for sale new from eBay, or the likes.

The Mag 340 Realtree Xcape (Dealer Only) is what replaced the Axe 340 Kryptek Raid (Dealer Only):

The "dealer only" versions are basically offered with all the SDS add-ons, a fancier camo, and sometimes a better scope than the base model. And seem to be offered for a shorter run than the base model.

Some examples that come to mind:
Micro 335 Raid (Kryptek Raid camo)
308 Short Banshee (Kryptek Banshee camo)
Micro 360TD Pro (Kryptek Altitude camo)

I really wish excal would go back to the kryptek models. Have been less of a fan of the xcape and other recent dealer only patterns.

And I never saw one with a Kryptek rail and riser. Just limbs and stock.

Thanks Tyler....I figured you'd know!

And "Thanks" to all the other responses. Saw one for sale. Mis-matched camo. CLAIMED it was a factory issued. :wtf: :eusa-liar:

I’ve never seen that camo combo before. I have seen the 340 in a Overwatch camo. I think the 340 is definitely one of the best models.

No Chris I do not. It is an individual. My first question was, "did you replace the limbs?". He QUICKLY told me it was a factory-made bow and that he bought it from a dealer? When I ask where, he said he couldn't remember the name of the dealer but it was from Michigan.
I know I've never seen two different camo patterns on a factory bow.

After having my uncle's Axe/Mag 340 here for a little while, helping him optimize some things on it.... I'm now a BIG fan of that riser and it's means of bolting onto the rail.

Me too. It's a simple, well thought out a
design.
Especially after a bulldog treatment.

I still need to get myself a Stryker version bulldog stock and try and short-LOP it. I'm a short-LOP kinda guy.
