Decocking compound xbow with rope like with xcalibur.

Post by vpsaline »

I know many compound xbow companies ask not to decock using the rope cocker but is this make sense?

Why can't the rope be used to decock a compound bow?

I think most people would under estimate the cams power in the cam, and possibly loose their grip. I would not try it with my Scorpyd even with the cocking device. I do not recommend it! I have an old single cam PSE compound bow, and when I let it down it feels like I have to almost push the dang bow, then it rips my arm off! It never feels like that when I shoot it, just saying. Be careful!!

Some bows have such an acute string angle that hooks cannot safely engage the string. This is very common amongst the super narrow bows.

I know the old tenpoint that my grampa has is not decockable because of its auto safety. There are ways around it on that particular model, but none I consider safe.

You can de-cock an Offspring or Katana no problem. ( just need to shoot a “ proper” compound)😎😎
