In Three Months

Post by CT.HNTR »

Hi everybody, three months from today I will be flying into bush in the Yukon on a float plane for a 10-day moose hunt. Will also have tags for grizzly, mountain caribou and wolf. I know this is not about crossbow hunting but wanted to share my excitement with everybody. I have been planning this trip for three years and can’t believe it will be here soon. I will post pictures if I can ever figure out how to do that on this site.

Glad to hear that its coming to fruition! Excellent! It will be a tough hunt I'm sure. The year I hunted elk in the Wyoming mountains, I cycled hard and long every day for 6 months. What are you doing to get ready for it?

I have been been backpacking with some weight about 10 miles every weekend for a few months now and am going to start using more weight and doing steeper and longer hikes over the next three months. I am currently in pretty good shape and expect to be real fit by the time September gets here.

I am limited to a maximum gear weight of 60 pounds including rifle for the float plane so coming up with the correct gear kit has been challenging but I think I finally have it figured out!

I will post pictures if I can ever figure out how to do that on this site.
You are going to have a Blast!!
Lived in Inuvik NWT for a considerable time period, and successfully hunted all those on your list.
The Caribou in my Avatar came from the Northern Yukon.

Going with a guide or do it yourself?

If you wish, you can send the pictures upon your return to me.
I can host them & post them for you.

Best of Luck!!!

Cheers,
Nog

Thanks for the offer to post pictures. I might take you up on that. Yes, I am going with a well respected outfitter. I don't know if I will get this opportunity again so I wanted a good outfitter.

Which one?

I'm serious about the pictures and will also provide links to each of them so you can share elsewhere.

Again - Best of Luck!!!

So I leave for Whitehorse in just 9 days. Can't wait. I got the duffle bags all packed up and I am ready to go. I clear customs in Vancouver and then have to catch the flight to Whitehorse so I hope the Vancouver airport is not to big.

Hopefully I will get some nice photos of the trip I can share.

Nog,
I'll need your help!
