2022 goal achieved

Post by DuckHunt »

Other than trying to get my kids on top of a deer or two, I really only had one personal goal this season. It was a leftover idea from a fleeting opportunity I had near the end of last season. I wanted to get a squirrel kill on video. During the middle of another deer free morning, I finally had a squirrel cooperate. The hardest part was trying to swap arrows with the target inside of 15 yards and closing.
The camo on the stock is spot on for my terrain.

Now I can just sit back and enjoy the rest of the season.

It's a Saunders Bludgeon 100gr slip on type. It fits snug on a crossbow bolt and provides roughly a quarter sized head of firm plastic. It guarantees you're arrow isn't going to snake under the grass or leaves. The concave end hits small game hard. If you hit them anywhere near the center line, they'll be dead right there.

Here is a better look at them: https://lancasterarchery.com/products/saunders-bludgeontm-slip-on-100gr

It's a Tacacam 5.0. I upgraded from the Tactacam Solo. This one has a few more options and better resolution. Now if only I can remember to turn it on. :eusa-doh:

Haha what a shot! I've always said I would do something like that, but never have. Was the hill that steep that it rolled that much? Or just the squirrel reacting?

I just showed your video to my wife who has been shooting my .22 PCP waiting on squirrel season. Thumbs up she says  .....she has a couple Instant Pot recipes ready for squirrels later in the month.

Today I was able to accomplish the task again, but this time exactly like I had originally envisioned it last year. I plucked him off the side of a tree.

I tried this one at 32 yards. So close he dropped his nut.

This one at 20 yards was much easier.
