Just bought a New 420 TD

Post by Archer Ontario »

I just bought a 420 TD
I’m not going to shoot the Pro Flight arrows that came with it .
I am going to shoot my Black Eagle Zombie Slayers
I see the pro flight arrows come with a metal nock at the top of the arrow
My Zombie Slayers have a plastic plug
Will it be ok to shoot ?

You should be fine however my personal opinion is that the sharp edges of the plastic nocks wear the serving faster. I like the aluminum rear nocks from Black Eagle the most because they machine a radius on the end on the nocks. Accuracy is great as well.

Another quick point here, a few years back people were having issues with serving tears on the faster bows, and the smaller framed ones. The issue was considered to be nicks in those plastic nocks digging into the serving when cocked. That beast you have might just fit that category.

Brian, you can buy the Rhino nocks from your local Excal dealer and replace the plastic nocks on your custom arrows.
Use a dab of glue on them.

I am not having any serving problems with plastic nocks in my 400 Suppressor. What I am getting is some burring or peening of the edges of my nocks when I don't seat the arrow properly. That can lead to getting a semi dryfire when you think you've seated your arrow but in actuality, the plastic burr is hung up on the latch fingers. I am not changing to the metal nocks but they are better in a Ceasefire trigger unit in respect to seating the arrow. The Rhino nock makes seating the arrow a no brainer.

I notice the 420 TD has the Pro Shot trigger. in that case Brian your plastic nocks are fine.
