The drought is over

Post by Carnivorous »

Last season I hunted hard in our archery season but came up empty! Did good with the smoke pole but it doesnt have the same rush as archery hunting...fast forward to 2022. I have been renovating my daughters first home and had very little time to hunt. I was fortunate to be invited to hunt for 3 days on some amazing properties so if it was to happen this was my only chance to get a deer with my crossbow... :)

On the very last day with 30min of legal shooting time this guy showed up 28 yards broadside. I didn't even hesitate to let the swat xmag do what it does best! :) double lung and one he'll of a blood trail is the norm for the xmag...

A special thanks to my good friend Normous for helping with the extraction. With him pulling the cart it was a breeze! :)

Next week is our annual muzzleloader hunt and hopefully I can put one more in the freezer for this year's meat supply.

A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.
