Gold Tip Bolts

Post by scratcherky »

I have been using Gold Tip Lazer II 20 inch bolts in my Phoenix crossbow. They have been discontinued and I would like to continue using Gold Tip bolts. Can anyone advise which current Gold Tip bolts would be equivalent to the Lazer II bolts?

Swifts are OK. I like the Nitro Pro line but they are heavy...13.9GPI. I see they have a SUPER FLY line now that boasts 0.001" straightnesss and is 8.5GPI

Years back l was using the laser 2 with a 60 grain insert and a 150 grain boltcutter that was 210 up front and the heavy bolt the basically flew as accurate as a mechanical or field point.
Very accurate in the wind too for a fixed blade l killed 2 bear with that set up.
Vixen 2, metal ibex,Phoenix, sapphire, matrix 330 ,matrix 355 ,vortex and baby grand piano y25 relayer.
Trigger tecs, leupold crossbones and nikon bolts.
Zombie slayers and mostly swat broadheads.

I think those are GT Nitro Pros in my avatar pic. 125 gr Rancat on a 500gr total weight arrow went completely through a bison.
I found them to be not as accurate as Black Eagles, but their new Supe Fly offering might be worth a look.
I like a heavy arrow and it's tough to get with a Micro without doing shaft in a shaft stuff....so the Nitro PRO line at 13.9GPI helped a lot. I think their brass insert was only 60 so I added weights. SO tat was fine, and I got NuFletch to make me some smaller ID Igniters for that bison hunt.
